CIRCULAR 28-2020 – PARANA RIVER LOW WATERS – UKC

Wednesday, 26 August 2020

Further to our Circulars  23/2020 and 26/2020,  a new warning has been issued today by the Argentine Coast Guard in relation to the UKC, especially bearing in mind that due to the COVID-19 scenario the clearance of  vessels is mainly performed remotely.  Although there have not been recent groundings in the past couple of weeks – especially after the peak last May- the levels of water in the river would not improve significantly in the near future in accordance with the information forecasted by INA (National Water Institute).  Therefore, we recommend Masters to be alert in relation to the compulsory UKC, also bearing in mind the squat effect of the vessels when transiting restricted waters as our channels in the Parana River/River Plate are.

Yours Faithfully,

PANDI LIQUIDORES SRL
